IDDRI is an independent policy research institute and a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform that identifies the conditions and proposes tools to put sustainable development at the heart of international relations and public and private policies

WHO WE ARE

Staff

IDDRI has a multidisciplinary international team of around 50 people, the majority of whom are researchers.

Board and governance bodies

Board

IDDRI’s Board, chaired by Michel Eddi, is composed of 15 administrators organised into three constituencies, under the supervision of a government commissioner who ensures that IDDRI maintains its public interest dimension.

Scientific Council

The Scientific Council, chaired by Claude Henry, ensures the monitoring of emerging scientific issues to guide the work of the teams and to support the board in identifying new areas of research. It is multidisciplinary, has 15 members and meets once a year.

Strategic Advisory Council

The Strategic Advisory Council, chaired by Julia Marton-Lefèvre, brings together representatives of the various civil society stakeholders to ensure the relevance of the institute's programming and intervention methods.

Research & influence partners

IDDRI's research and influence capacities are centred on alliances and networks of expertise in many countries in Europe and internationally.

Budget and financial partners

IDDRI's funding comes from long-term programmes (IDGM, IDGM+), companies, French ministries and public bodies, the European Commission, and international organisations and foundations

IDDRI's funding is based on diversified partnerships, including a share of core funding, making it possible to carry out the joint project defined and updated by its founding members, supplemented by project-based funding.

Expenditure is divided between research programmes carried out by IDDRI and its scientific partners, communication activities, and support, cross-cutting functions, structural and operational costs.

Transparency

IDDRI is a foundation of public interest. Its programmes are determined by transparent decision-making processes subject to collective deliberation by IDDRI’s governance bodies.

IDDRI is labelled "Think tank and transparent" by the European Observatory of Think Tanks. It is second in the France 2017 ranking.

IDDRI is committed to reducing its long-distance travel and offsetting its residual emissions.
