From 14 to 16 December 2006, Bangalore (India)
The aim of the conference was to present the challenges that must be addressed in terms of sustainable development when dealing with the link between energy, environment and poverty. Scientists, decision makers, field workers and other participants exchanged and discussed options for possible solutions. They tried to establish a common agenda to devise a strategy and actions in the developing countries of Asia.
The three days of the conference were organized around six sessions:

- 3. Local dimensions of global environmental challenges
- 4. Globalization as a force for change
- 5. Technological leapfrogging
- 6. Revitalizing research and development
