"The Need for a Strengthened EU Energy and Climate Strategy"

A conference organised jointly by IDDRI and Climate Strategies, and hosted on June 8 (4.15 pm-6.45 pm) by the French Permanent Representation in Brussels.

Presentation :

Results of the research project "Considering the case for the EU to move beyond 20% emissions reductions by 2020", convened by Climate Strategies et l'Iddri. These concrete policy recommendations are based on a precise analysis of the situation in key sectors (power, industry, building, transport), on the economic and environmental performance of the main policy instruments (ETS, renewable energies targets and support schemes, energy efficiency policies and measures) and on the international context (climate negotiations and energy and industrial policies of big emerging countries).

- Session 1 : Why does the EU need a strengthened energy and climate strategy?
- Session 2 : How can EU energy and climate policies both increase long-term competitiveness gains and decrease transition costs?
- Session 3 : How can EU policies both improve energy efficiency and strengthen cohesion?
