Overview
"In many developing countries, the Green Revolution has had a dramatic impact on agricultural productivity, but also brought along serious environmental and social issues. In China, where environmental and social issues are particularly severely impacting rural areas, it has become urgent to implement policies to overcome these challenges. Although the political willingness to shift to more sustainable trajectories exists, major sociological and cultural obstacles and path dependencies impede the evolution of the agricultural sector towards better farming practices."
