The recent success of initiatives such as Blablacar, Leboncoin, or FixMyStreet highlights one of the major promises of this revolution: to empower citizens and consumers, transforming our consumption patterns, the way we travel, fund economic activity and participate in public and civic life.
Is this the beginning of sustainable development 2.0?
What opportunities does this shift create for sustainable development? There are many risks, including increased consumption of resources and energy linked to the deployment of digital technologies. But there are also many opportunities, as these technologies transform our practices and could drive social transformation in a direction yet to be determined.
In this context:
what role can public authorities play? Could good policy bring digital innovation and sustainable development together?
How are “pioneer” regions using digital technologies to reinvent their public service missions? Which partnerships link local and national governments to digital innovators?
