A High Level Panel on building a sustainable ocean economy has been established with the aim of developing, catalysing and supporting solutions for Ocean health and wealth in policy, governance, technology and finance. The Panel consists of thirteen Heads of Government from Australia, Chile, Fiji, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, Namibia, Norway, Mexico, Palau, and Portugal, with support from the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean. The deliberations, work and operations of the High Level Panel are being supported by a Secretariat that is led by World Resources Institute.

An Expert Group has been established to provide different perspectives, insights and advice to the High Level Panel, ensuring a broad range of concerns and proposed solutions are brought to the Panel’s attention. Members of the Expert Group will help to inform the key findings and recommendations of the final report which will be delivered at the next UN Ocean Conference in the second quarter of 2020 in Lisbon.
