On the road to COP 15: scientific and political views on the IPBES report on biodiversity and pandemics

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront the question of the links between the erosion of biodiversity and the multiplication of pandemics. Following a dedicated workshop held last July, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) published a report on 29 October summarising the causes and ways out of this "pandemic era", which are all linked to the way we interact with biodiversity. The health and socio-economic crisis at Covid-19 has justly hit a process of international negotiations in preparation for the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15) of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The COP15, long planned for October 2020 in Kunming, China, but postponed to 2021, is expected to result in a new international framework to halt the erosion of global biodiversity.
This webinar offered a cross perspective on the IPBES report on biodiversity and pandemics and the process of preparing for COP15 and the next global framework for biodiversity.
