The establishment of a review mechanism is a critical factor in the effectiveness of the post-2020 framework for biodiversity to be adopted at COP15 in 2022. Negotiations of such a mechanism (formally titled "Mechanisms for reporting, assessment and review of implementation") began in the spring of 2021 at the 3rd meeting of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI-3) and are expected to continue in the first half of 2022 before the opening of COP15. In order to feed the discussions and to allow national delegations to informally exchange their views, IDDRI, in partnership with the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) and the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), organized two online workshops for French-speaking delegations on November 29 and December 1, 2021. This workshop report is a synthesis of the main exchanges.
