Co-founder of the Varda Group, a consultancy specialized in strategic development and advocacy, Rémi Parmentier is a veteran ocean advocate with a trajectory that goes back to the mid-1970s. He develops projects and campaigns in partnership with foundations, NGOs, governments, intergovernmental and corporate alliances. He has served over the years since the early 1980s on the delegations of several governments and organizations at many international policy fora and multilateral negotiations, providing policy and outreach strategies.
Ocean advocate since 1975, Rémi Parmentier currently runs Let’s Be Nice to the Ocean, a project he launched in 2023 to increase ambition at this year’s Third UN Ocean Conference (Nice, France, June 2025), supported by six partners including the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. He also participates in the current multilateral negotiations for a UN Plastics Treaty to prevent and combat the proliferation of and pollution form plastics worldwide.
