Marcin Korolec has been a member of the European Investment Bank's Advisory Committee on the Environment and Ccimat since July 2021. He has also been Director of the Green Economy Institute since August 2020, Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles since September 2016, and a member of the Board of Directors of MevaEnergy (2020), InnoEnergy (2019) and Transport and Environment (2019). He was Polish Minister for Climate from 2014 to 2015, Minister for the Environment from 2011 to 2013 and Minister for Trade from 2005 to 2011. Between 2005 and 2015, he represented Poland at more than 120 meetings of ministers of the Council of the European Union (Climate, Competitiveness, Energy, Environment and Trade Councils). Marcin Korolec was President of COP19 in 2013 and also co-led the EU delegation at the UNFCCC conference in Durban in 2011.

Involved in the management of institutions concerned with the environment and climate protection, both Polish and international, he represented Poland on the board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as a member of the board and chairman of the ethics and audit committee (2013 - 2015). He co-created the Weimar Green Triangle - cooperation between the environment ministers of France, Germany and Poland (2013). He was a member of the Advisory Board of the UNIDO Green Industry Platform (2013-2015). In 2011, he represented Poland on the Board of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Marcin Korolec was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) from 2010 to 2011. 

He holds a degree in law (University of Warsaw 1995, École nationale d'administration, Promotion Marc Bloch).

He is the author of scientific publications on Poland's accession negotiations and a university lecturer. Mr Korolec is fluent in English and French. He is married to Olga Korolec and has four children. He enjoys jogging, cycling and skiing.
