Vicente Guazzini is a Senior Research Fellow in charge of developing stakeholder engagement strategies for the Global South within the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Programme. He joined IDDRI in 2023.
Prior to joining IDDRI, Vicente worked for over a decade in core institutions of global economic governance including the United Nations (UNCTAD, UNECE), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) where he built his expertise at the intersection of investment policy, trade policy, sustainable development and green transition policies.
Vicente holds a PhD in International Law and a Masters degree from Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III) as well as a Maitrise in Law from Universidad Diego Portales (Santiago, Chile). His doctoral research focused on the impact of the legal regime for foreign investment protection on domestic policy-making, in particular on the capacity of Global South countries to adopt environmental and social policies while facing legal exposure and regulatory liability under Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS).
He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian.
