The CoVid-19 pandemic, like SARS or MERS-CoV epidemics, and like most epidemics in human history, has its origin in a change in the relationship between humans and fauna. Wildlife in the case of HIV, Ebola, SARS, SARS-CoV-2 viruses, but also the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease; livestock in the case of H1N1 and H5N1 viruses, for example.
This causality invites us to reflect on two main issues: what are the links between environmental disruptions and the emergence of infectious diseases? And what directions does this suggest for public policies, including multilateral cooperation?
