Context and Key Issues
The National Informal Working Group on High Seas, created in 2011 by IDDRI and the French Marine Protected Areas Agency, meets twice a year with various stakeholders interested in issues related to the high seas (ministries, public institutions, economic sector representatives, research institutes and NGOs), to share knowledge and discuss issues related to the conservation and sustainable management of areas beyond national jurisdiction.
The group is currently co-chaired by IDDRI, the French Agency for Biodiversity (AFB) and the Paris Oceanographic Institute.
