"De-carbonisation will require initiatives from all societal actors: innovation and deployment of new technologies by industry, changes in consumption patterns favouring energy efficiency and low-carbon consumer life-styles, and public policies to drive the economies towards these new prosperity itineraries. Businesses have international exposure, and their strategies follow an economic logic taking into account national and international contexts including carbon policies, whether existing or anticipated. What could governments do to encourage business strategies towards mitigation?"
