An international conference organized by IDDRI, University of Nairobi, DIE, SEI, GEM Initiative, Utrecht University, Lund University and University of Ghana.
IDDRI is co-organizing the annual conference of the Earth System Governance network, the leading network of researchers on global environmental governance.
Organized this year in Nairobi to support and mobilize the African academic community working on these issues, the main theme of this conference is inequalities: how can we change governance systems to tackle inequalities in access to national or global decision-making? How can we ensure that the theme of income inequality, integrated into the SDGs in 2015, is incorporated into politics at the national level and in the main channels of international cooperation?
In particular, IDDRI is organizing a session on innovative multi-stakeholder platforms, such as those on the climate action agenda and the food security agenda: these new international governance arrangements focus primarily on efficiency, pragmatism and the implementation of the 2015 agenda, but how can they also take into account the issues of inequalities and equity in decisions?
