Towards a legal framework for the creation and management of cross-sectoral marine protected areas in areas beyond national jurisdiction

An international seminar organized jointly by IDDRI and IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature), in partnership with the Agency for Marine Protected Areas, the University of the Littoral Opal Coast, the European Bureau for Conservation and Development, and Nausicaá (French National Sea Centre - Boulogne-sur-Mer), was devoted to marine protected areas in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.

This seminar draws on an innovative approach based on legal prospective to contribute to the current debate on the necessary development of governance and international law leading to the establishment of multi-sectoral marine protected areas located in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction.
