The Blue Tourism Initiative, with its partner Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) and together with IDDRI and eco-union, is organising an online event "Towards Sustainable Blue Tourism in the Caribbean: Policy pathways to support coastal and marine community-based tourism".
This event is held online on Zoom, on August 27th from 10 to 12pm AST (4 to 6pm CEST).
Central to the event is the presentation of a new diagnostic study "Towards Sustainable Blue Tourism in the Caribbean: Policy pathways to support coastal and marine community-based tourism" conducted by CANARI. The study assesses current trends, risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for community-based blue tourism, and advances policy actions to better integrate community-based solutions for a more inclusive and sustainable blue tourism sector in the region.
This event aims to:
- enhance the regional dialogue on strategies and actions to support the adoption and scaling-up of sustainable Community-Based Tourism approaches in the Caribbean;
- provide illustrations of Community-Based Tourism approaches, as well as opportunities and good practices for this as a pathway to an inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and climate-resilient tourism sector.
