This conference brought together experts from Climate Convention Annex I countries, private sector representatives and non-governmental organizations to discuss the current issues of the Kyoto Protocol’s flexibility mechanisms and the EU’s directive on CO2 emission quotas.
The conference provided an update on the implementation of these instruments in each country. It addressed the following topics: the allocation modalities of tradable permits; government participation in the international market; interactions between various energy and environmental policy objectives and instruments to achieve them.
