A seminar organised by the French Development Agency (AFD) and Coordination Sud. #Vaincreinégalités
The reduction of inequalities has become an universal sustainable development goal and a horizon for States and development partners. AFD has defined it as one of the pillars of the eight priority projects in its new Strategic Orientation Plan. NGOs put it on the map as a key issue that is now increasingly being echoed.
But what do we know about the impacts of AFD and NGOs' projects on inequalities? Are they participating in their reduction or increasing them? Which public policies have the biggest impact on inequality? How relevant is the rights-based approach, adopted by the Nordic countries and a growing number of NGOs, to taking action on inequalities? How can we reduce inequalities in terms of people's access to speech, political representation and encourage the participation of those who are directly affected by public projects and policies?
A speech by Tancrède Voituriez in the session titled "Which public policies should be promoted to reduce inequalities?".
