The financing of biodiversity protection was one of the major issues discussed at COP16, which was held in Cali, Colombia, at the end of 2024, and which is to resume in a few days in Rome, Italy. This financing is indeed essential for the implementation of countries' strategies and the achievement of global biodiversity goals. However, beyond figures and commitments, essential questions remain: what does financing biodiversity really involve? What are the concrete needs in the short and long term?
