A presentation by Glenn Wright at the workshop Capacity Building Workshop for SIDS in BBNJ Negotiations organised by the Maldives, as the Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), with support of the Kingdom of Norway.
This is a four day training workshop for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) with the objective of providing in-depth technical and practical training to negotiators from SIDS to enable enhanced participation and engagement at the Intergovernmental Conference on Marine Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (IGC) which will be convened in September 2018. The workshop will provide an opportunity for negotiators to engage in discussions and pose queries on the procedural aspects, as well as the substantive issues under consideration in the IGC.
