The Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) in collaboration with the European Think Tanks Group (ETTG, bringing together ECDPM, GDI, ODI, IAI and IDDRI) is organising in 2018 a series of debates on issues related to the next multiannual financial framework of the European Union. This closed workshop is the first event in a series of meetings to be held in different EU Member States.
Presentation of the workshop:
The preparation of the European Union's new multiannual financial framework comes at a particular time for Europe. Faced with unprecedented internal and external challenges, the EU must in a tightened sequence define its budget and assert its priorities. What are the options for reforming the budget and cooperation and development mechanisms? Are current external financing instruments effective and responsive to the new challenges of the period? What place for politically sensitive issues such as defence and security?
