Co-founded in 2015 by IDDRI, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS and TMG Think Tank for Sustainability, the Partnership for Regional Ocean Governance (PROG) aims to support integrated ocean governance approaches for marine regions by:
- (i) supporting progress within marine regions;
- (ii) advancing dialogue among marine regions;
- (iii) connecting marine regions with global processes.
One key platform to reach these objectives is the Marine Regions Forum, a participatory, multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral dialogue platform that aims to facilitate transformations towards integrated ocean governance for marine regions.
A first edition of the Forum was held in Berlin in 2019 and the second conference will be organised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, November 7-9, 2023, hosted by the United Republic of Tanzania in collaboration with the Republic of Seychelles. The conference is being organised in partnership with the Nairobi Convention Secretariat and Western Indian Ocean partners.
