Small-scale fishing in Occitania is the subject of our new episode.
How can small-scale fishing find outlets to sell its produce to French consumers? Small-scale fishing, or artisanal fishing, is not necessarily a guarantee against overfishing, but it is a fishing practice that has no impact on the seabed, and is more fuel-efficient. It is also a question of food sovereignty, which has become a central political objective. Today we focus on the French Occitania region, where the paradox is at its height: local production can't find local sales outlets, and has to be exported. Mathieu Colléter, associate researcher at IDDRI, answers Sophie Larmoyer's questions.
