IDDRI hosts a workshop on international support to climate mitigation in the forest sector on May 28-29 in Paris, as a follow up on the previous workshop of October 2008 and to the side event at the UNFCCC Conference in Poznan. The workshop will take the form of a roundtable with 20-30 attendants from Europe, the US and other countries, primarily experts from the academic and NGO communities, with also a number of representatives from governments and international organisations.
The workshop will promote an open exchange of views on outstanding matters that require major intergovernmental decisions in 2009. The recent Meridian report will be used as a scoping document for discussions.
The roundtable is supported by the European Climate Foundation and the Environmental Defence Fund.
