A seminar organized by Global Utmaning together with IDDRI, the Embassy of Sweden, and the Delegation of Sweden to the OECD and UNESCO.
Presentation
The Nordic economies, of which Sweden is the largest one, are all ranked among the world´s twenty strongest economies. The Nordic region already has an important part of its power supply from renewable energy, with a very good potential to increase it, at lower cost, compared to the rest of Europe. Against this background, a group of Nordic industrialists, the Nordic Action Group on Climate (NAG, established as a part of the energy and climate program of Global Utmaning) decided to take a closer look at the European/Nordic energy context and more specifically at the question what ways are the most sustainable and efficient to modernize our societies. The report ”Nordic Energy Ways” which is the first report from this group, elaborates on a vision of closer Nordic integration and of closer Northern European integration in the field of energy supply.
Following the publication of the report, this seminar aims to present that initiative, and to dicuss why industry invests time in this effort, and then to focus on the need for policy change.
