This paper identifies important gaps in the technology support and financing landscape of existing processes and initiatives that are relevant to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). On this basis the paper further discusses the need for establishing a Biodiversity Technology Initiative (BTI) while avoiding duplications of its prospective work with existing initiatives.
